she’s a maniac…

of the running kind, that is. a few days ago i joined the marathon maniacs, a group of insane people that run an extraordinary number of marathons. the minimum requirement is to have completed 3 marathons (or ultras) in 90 days. i long qualified but didn’t know about this group of fanatics. there are REAL maniacs there. impressive. membership starts at the bronze level with the 3 marathons or ultras in 90 days, and goes up to titanium level, for those insane souls that have done 52 marathons or more in one calendar year. there are other criteria such as number of marathons in different us states or canadian provinces or different countries… when you join you gain access to a member’s only area that includes a bulletin board, and you can buy marathon maniacs apparel, too. of course you also gain bragging rights for being a maniac. check it out! maybe you qualify and don’t even know!

That is very cool . . . I however have no desire to be a maniac. Maybe a half-mara maninac, but I don’t see a club for that one.

    here’s to a great 2007
